SceneDub

Podcast transcription

Transcribe a podcast

Turn podcast dialogue into a text draft for editing, accessible transcripts, or clip captions. Upload the audio file and download text, SRT, or WebVTT.

Unlimited free transcription. Fair use applies

How it works

  1. Export your episode or clip as a supported audio file under 200 MB.
  2. Upload and transcribe the English dialogue.
  3. Review speaker changes and specialist terms, then download TXT or captions.

After transcription, download plain text, SRT subtitles, or WebVTT captions from the same result.

Best fit

Start with a spoken-word episode export or an individual podcast clip. SceneDub works with uploaded recordings, not a Spotify page, an RSS feed, or a link that requires a platform login.

Uploads use private temporary storage and are deleted after processing. Signed-in users receive a private saved transcript plus TXT, SRT, and VTT copies; signed-out results stay only in the current tab. Review the privacy policy before using sensitive material.

What to expect from this conversion

Episodes and shorter clips

The upload limit is 200 MB. For a large or slow-to-process episode, split at a natural chapter boundary and keep track of each segment's start time. Captions from a segment start relative to that segment, not the full episode.

Show notes are a separate step

The output is a transcript, not an automatic summary or a fact-checked show-notes page. Use the transcript to select quotes, draft notes, and identify passages worth clipping in your editor.

Caption timing

Generate captions from the final clip audio when possible. Trimming, inserting an intro, or speeding up the media changes timing. Use the subtitle timing tool for a consistent offset, and a subtitle editor for individual cue edits.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paste a Spotify podcast link?

No. This tool accepts uploaded audio or video files. Export a recording you own or have permission to process.

Are podcast summaries included?

No. SceneDub generates transcript text and timed captions. Summaries and show notes require a separate editing step.

What does Audio transcriber do?

SceneDub converts English speech in an uploaded audio or video file into a transcript. Download TXT for notes, SRT for subtitle editors, or VTT for web players. Speech recognition creates a draft: check names, numbers, and unclear passages against the recording before sharing.

Input
English speech in MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4, OGG, or WebM
Output
Editable transcript, TXT, SRT, and WebVTT
Processing
Cloud speech recognition; private temporary media upload

A practical workflow

  1. Choose the original recording with the clearest speech.
  2. Run transcription and compare the draft against the audio.
  3. Download the format your next step needs; signed-in results also appear in Saved.

Capability notes updated . Editorial methodology

One recording, three useful exports

Input / starting point

Spoken audio: Welcome to the recording.

Output / result

TXT: readable notes
SRT: numbered subtitle cues
VTT: a web caption track

This illustrates the export choices, not a promised recognition result. Downloaded subtitles contain timestamps; plain text does not.
