What this practice is

Recording voice over video is easier when the performance is broken into exact moments. SceneDub presents a line, records your delivery, and places that take back at its scripted timestamp.

This approach is designed for dialogue replacement, where the new voice belongs inside the scene. It differs from narration, which commonly sits above continuous footage and does not need to match a character's turn.

A focused three-step workflow

  1. 1Read the line and notice how long its recording window lasts.
  2. 2Deliver the thought within that window, then compare the take visually and by ear.
  3. 3Accept the take and continue until the full scene can be played.

Coaching notes

  • Begin speaking from an active breath instead of a cold start.
  • Let punctuation guide thought, not rigid pauses.
  • Match the scene's energy before chasing exact timing.

Frequently asked questions

Is voice-over the same as dubbing?

Not exactly. Voice-over can be narration added to a video; dubbing replaces spoken dialogue and usually follows picture timing.

Can I upload any video to SceneDub?

Not in the current prototype. SceneDub provides a prepared library of short, licensed scenes.
